University of Warsaw was founded November 19, 1816 at the initiative of King Alexander I. Originally, the university consisted of five faculties. Over the years, he changed his name and developed various scientific Cathedral. During World War II large part of the collections of the university buildings and destroyed, and professors killed 63 people. The University was the institution involved politically, not only during the war, but also in the 60s by the communist era. The historic buildings of the University, where its headquarters are authorities and administration, are located at the Krakow suburb 26/28. On campus there leads historic Main Gate, which was made in neo-baroque style in 1900 according to the project Stefan Szyller. Museum of the Warsaw University currently housed in the palace of the Tyszkiewicz. For tourists it is also prepared numerous itineraries campus tours. The museum is open from Monday to Friday, 9: 00-15: 00, and admission for individuals is free of charge.
